Why the Recent Asteroid Impact news can't be Ignored?

Asteroid, small bodies that wander the infinite space.
Well the recent news of a big asteroid that was on near collision with the earth is a big surprise.
And why this news cannot be ignored!

First of all the discovery time of asteroid was too short.

  • The asteroid was spotted just 4 days before it crossed its nearest earth point!!
  • Secondly due to such a short notice the size was estimation was wrong and the asteroid was twice as large!!

In order to prevent a asteroid from colliding with earth we should have early knowledge and probably years before collision to prepare an impact avoidance strategy.

Had this asteroid collided with earth a large amount of human race would have been wiped out and earth atmosphere would have been affected so bad that nothing would thrive for at least next 100 years

Asteroid are know to have caused mass extinctions on earth.

After the impact takes place large amount dust will spread in to atmosphere which will reduce the amount of sunlight reaching earth. this will result in a cold atmosphere on earth known as impact winter causing
massive damage to both biosphere and humans alike.

When a impact with earth occurs , the amount of damage depends upon the size as well as the speed of the asteroid.
So comets which have high speed can cause more damage than a relatively bigger asteroid.

The most devastation extinction was caused by the asteroid at Chicxulub in Mexico that was 10km in diameter and caused a impact crater of 180 km diameter and is thought to be the main reason for dinosaur extinction.

One of the best know recent event of asteroid impact is the Tunguska event in Russia in 1908. In this event a large asteroid burst just 6-9 km above earth surface causing the wiping of a thousand of km of forest and if it had occurred over a city it would have destroyed the entire city.

Although this time we have been saved next time we wont be so lucky, so we should devise a strategy and be completley ready to avoid a human extinction event.

Mantralaya , State's Most Important Building Under Fire

Mantralaya the iconic building in Mumbai was under fire on Thursday which is major news relating to security and disaster management in such high valued government buildings.
Also a lot of conspiracy theories have popped up which point to starting fire in order to destroy important papers or to hand over building development to private builders.
Many conspiracy theorist suggest that fire may been started to destroy documents relating to Adarsh scam in which many high profile minister were accused.

A lot of important documents have been burned in the fire. Government was in the process of digitising documents, but as with majority of government work, the process was slow and hence digitization couldn't be completed in time.

This fire in such an important building shows the mess in the disaster management of major govt institution .The fire brigade had problem to douse the fire because of the cars parked in the vicinity.

Chagan Bhujbal has said that it will take three months for the building to be fully operational. Fire Proof plywood and other high quality materials will be used to do the renovation work so to avoid disasters in future. "The proposal on installing fire sprinklers was ready and awaiting a sanction for Rs. 10 crore," he said. had the fire sprinkler been installed the fire would have caused less damage.

As of now to resume work Gt Hospital and MTNL office would be used by Mantralaya officials.

A Crime branch probe has been ordered in to the incident. As of now the Police will check the CCTV footage and interrogate the witness who saw the inferno to determine the cause.
Short circuit in the server room is thought to be the cause of the fire but only after the full investigation will the government issue the cause of fire.

How Petrol Price rise has made Auto Rickshaw more preffered than B.E.S.T. Bus

Oil Price rise is a issue that affects everything and everyone. Recent increase in  Petrol price in India has made everything costlier.

Increase in fuel price increase cost everywhere from industry ,transportation ,travelling, food, and commodity price rise. In other words it affects each and every sphere of our life.

In Mumbai majority of commuters use Local trains for transport majorly for long distance travel.
Second option is the B.E.S.T. bus.
And for quick and comfortable travel people prefer auto rickshaw.

Due to the massive price rise in petrol, price of B.E.S.T. and rickshaw commute has gone up.
But since the recent B.E.S.T. price rise is steep, I think now rickshaw is a better transport than Bus.

Why Investing in Kamothe is a Good Decision

On  last Saturday I went to Mansarovar to get the rent from my room in Kamothe. As it is June black clouds surrounded the sky making the atmosphere cool. I was waiting on Mansarovar Station for my cousin as he was coming by train.  As I was waiting on the platform I was enjoying the cool breeze coming from the undeveloped scenic mountain side of the platform. Workers were covering the newly installed train Indicators with Plastic to prevent them from damaging in rain.

Kamothe can be seen both as Investment Opportunity as Well as Good place to Stay. I had purchased a flat in Kamothe in Jan 2010 at Rs. 2400 psft. and if current pricing is seen I am in Profit!

Web Shifting to .anyDomainName

When I was first introduced to Internet in 2004, Computers meant Microsoft Windows and only way to open a webpage was by using Internet Explorer. IE was the default browser that came bundled with Windows. To Open a webpage in IE we had to type the enitre name of the site as it is (just like coding) for eg www.yahoo.com. Any mistake in the url could lead you to a page not found exception. This process also required us to remember complex names like www.mazagondock.gov.in

As I became for more accomplished with Internet it became easy to directly type the site name in Google search bar as Google returned appropriate serach result to the site (Also since google.com used to be the homepage in many cases!). Also as browsers developed modern browser offered the simplicity of enitering  the name in the OMNIBAR (Search  + Address bar ) which offered suggestion as typed and hence you could directly end up on the correct site. Hence the need to remember complex domain names was gone.

Currently we just have majority URL ending in .com or .org or a country specific URL extension like .in for India. But this is going to change and web will be flooded with new domain names.

ICANN will allow companies and organisation to choose any top level domain names they like. Currently only 22 top level domain (TLD) are available which include .com, .org, .net. After  new gTLDs (Generic TLD) come in we will be able to have sites like www.myProduct.myCompanyName . Also these top level domain names can include any characters ie. regional characters will also be allowed making the site name more effective and more close to its real intention.

This will allow companies to increase their brand value on the Internet. As a company can have many products which may not have relation with each other it becomes imperative to have a website for each product.

Companies can now purchase a TLD and then create website that will have the company name as their extension. This will allow different products to have different website but still be linked to the owner company by its URL extension! This will allow the company to associate  product and its brand name to be in customers memory just by its URL.

Google has applied for 50 TLD according to its official Google Blog which includes .google .youtube and .lol !! domains

Will Samsung beat Nokia in India

In India back in 2006 when I was purchasing my first phone I asked many people about which phone to purchase and there was only one reply Nokia. I compared many phones of those time and found a Motorola phone that provided much more features than Nokia at the same price but still people didnt bother to explore alternatives to Nokia. Be it a person who wanted to purchase a low budget Nokia s40 device or a fat pocket who wanted to purchase a phone with high end features and a s60 software, everyone wanted Nokia. Nokia had built is reputation in India by providing the best hardware possible for its phones. Nokia phones could bear all possible abuse and still perform for years this made it the first choice back then.

Nokia didn't developed is Software just the hardware, high end camera finished looks that's it. Even at Rs.15000 you could only get a S40 or a S60. Apple when manufactured iPhone that's when the downfall of Nokia had begun. With Apple offering the best experience on  iPhone many smartphone user started to shift to iPhone. Second blow to  Nokia came with Android. Google's Android  went to Motorola Samsung HTC and LG, and suddenly the market was filled with high quality Smartphone that Nokia couldn't think of beating with its Outdated Symbian.

As Samsung came to the top worldwide same trend happened in India. Many people started to buy Samsung Smart phones. Also Nokia's competitors introduced low cost phones. Low cost phones with dual sim, mp3 players and camera had started to take away Nokia's low cost market.

Although Nokia has now partnered with Microsoft , still the competition is tough from Samsung And it may not be long when Samsung will beat Nokia in India too.
