LinkedIn's more than 6 million Passwords Breached

Last major hack that I remember was that of PlayStation hack in which accounts of over 77 million users were compromised. Also credit card data was stolen. Sony shut down is network as a precaution to investigate the attack, this also caused major disappointment among its PlayStation gamers base.

Recent attack on Linked in is as a major security disaster.

Internet is major aid in finding jobs easily and many good sites provide users to easily get a job; Naukri and Monster are one of the popular sites.
LinkedIn is a new way where job seekers can connect with similar fields people and Employers to get the correct job.
LinkedIn allows it users to create a professional profile.

LinkedIn reported recently that over 6 million passwords were stolen by hackers and posted online. LinkedIn initially reported the password leak via a blog . As a security measure all the password have been reset and LinkedIn will contact with its users via email.

Main issue with hacking of use account is that many users have the same password for all of their Internet accounts. If the hacker gains access to Primary email account of a user than he can get access to all his other accounts too.
Having different password for different accounts is a good procedure and users can use two step authentication one via mobile phone to save their account from being hacked.

It is very important for social networking sites to improvise their security apparatus.
Focusing on the users security should the numero one priority of Social networking Sites
Social Networking users share their private and confidential data on site. This data can be used for blackmailing users and harassing other users and posses a grave security concerns.
LinkedIn should implement best security practises to protect its data.

This is also a lesson for other social networking sites.
